The Scoops Ahoy tote is the perfect mid-size tote that is a great size for every day use. It is perfect for featuring a panel or fabric that you love. Pattern includes two strap options, an optional outside slip pocket, and skill building techniques (don't be scared of the scoop!).

This pattern is suitable for a domestic or heavy duty machine and is great for an adventurous beginner. This PDF pattern download comes with written instructions for each step along with coordinating photos. Full-size pattern template pieces are also included as is a video tutorial showing both strap options. You can use cotton, canvas, cork, or vinyl. The options are only limited to your imagination (and you're machine's ability) :)

Material and Hardware requirements:

  • Exterior material (1 yard) 
  • Lining material (1 yard)
  • Accent material (1/4 yard) optional. Can also use exterior material.
  • Interfacing  (depending on fabric chosen; see cutting chart)
      • Woven (SF101 or equivalent)
      • Decovil Light (or equivalent) 
      • Decovil Heavy (or equivalent)
  • Zipper, #5 size
      • 9”, 14” with matching zipper pulls
  • Optional Hardware
      • (4) 1” strap end caps (for Strap Option A)
      • 1” D-ring (or a 1.5” D-ring if making Strap Option B)
      • 8mm double cap rivets (8 sets) 
      • Strap Option B will use additional rivets, per your preference.
  • Optional Sewing Tools
      • 1/4” Double Sided Tape
      • Hump jumper
      • Zipper foot 

The finished size of this bag is approximately 13.5”w x 9.75”h (not including straps) with a 3” base.

Haven’t had time to make it yet but appears to be an excellent pattern that I am looking forward to making. Download was very easy. Directions are very well written and easy to follow. As soon as I get a chance to make it I will send photos 😊

Pattern is well written and easy to follow. I found that the lining was too large and did not fit well in the tote. The next make I cut the lining fabric 1/2" shorter on the sides and bottom seams. This worked well and the lining fit much better.
